Ted Cardenas,
Director of Marketing - Mobile Entertainment,
Pioneer

As Director of Marketing for Pioneer’s mobile business group, Ted Cardenas is responsible for promotional activities, advertising and overall brand strategy.  He and his team focus on the primary goals of educating consumers about Pioneer's mobile entertainment and navigation solutions, while building excitement and demand that directs them to its retail and distribution partners.

His passion for consumer electronics began junior year of high school in 1989, when he started a summer job at Sound and Service in Iowa.  There he learned the fundamentals of the car audio business, which evolved into a 20-year career in the CE industry.

Cardenas began his 13-year career at Pioneer as a product specialist, providing training and support for car and home electronics dealers.  He quickly rose through the ranks and in 1997, he was promoted to district sales manager, covering the northwest territory.  In 2000, Cardenas made an important career transition when he moved to Pioneer’s headquarters in Long Beach, Calif. and became brand manager for the mobile business group’s marketing division.  In 2007, he moved into a management role within Pioneer’s product planning department, working closely with Japanese engineers and design teams across all U.S. mobile electronic product lines.

Cardenas was honored with Pioneer’s Octagon and MVP awards for three consecutive years (1997 – 1999), a distinction presented to outstanding employees who exceed sales quotas and are recognized for excellent customer feedback and service.  Since 2007, he has been an active member of the CEA Automotive Electronics Division Board.

Ted Cardenas has always provided a grass-roots perspective, helping the industry generate sales while providing product solutions that satisfy consumer needs and demands.  He is most effective at maximizing the natural synergy that exists between the automotive enthusiast and the mobile electronics industry.  Cardenas conducts day-to-day business with a clear understanding of the importance of learning something from a retailer, distributor or consumer and knows that it is equally critical to teach and share in order to help the industry continue to grow.
